FREE screening of the movie, “Blaze”, featuring Paul Newman Presented by the not-for-profit New Orleans Lyceum. The event takes place in the Inn On Bourbon’s Salon de Gallier, 541 Bourbon Street.
"Blaze" is the highly-fictionalized story of the latter years of Earl Long, Governor of Louisiana, brother of assassinated governor and U.S. Senator Huey P. Long and uncle of U.S. Senator Russell Long. According to the novel and film, Earl Long allegedly fell in love with a young stripper named Blaze Starr. The movie screenings take place at the Inn On Bourbon on the first Monday of each month. The series is made possible by the New Orleans Lyceum, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to adult learning. A theme and storyline discussion will follow the movie and will be facilitated by Lyceum founder David O’Donaghue, Psy.D. Established in 2003, the Lyceum consists of O’Donaghue and a group of independent scholars, who teach, discuss and share various topics and themes with adult students throughout the area. Besides films, Lyceum programs include yoga, history, poetry, and philosophy. The Lyceum will also hold monthly Philosophical Cafes at the Inn On Bourbon. These two-hour sessions will be facilitated by Lyceum instructors and will take place on Mondays, once a month. |
