We’re taking an in-depth look at people and events that have influenced the development of New Orleans’ culture and economy with our 2011 Legacy Series. This bi-monthly panel focused on local legends will be moderated by Ringside Politics host Jeff Crouere and will take place during lunchtime from 11:30am -1:00pm.

Hotel Monteleone History Book LaunchThe Hotel Monteleone will kick off its 125th anniversary celebration with the launch of its very own history book, Hotel Monteleone: More Than a Landmark, The Heart of New Orleans Since 1886. Attendees will get the first glimpse of the books, which are hot off the press, as they raise a champagne toast in the lobby at 10:30am with the author, Jenny Adams, and graphic designer, Phillip Collier Designs, who will be available to sign purchased copies. All attendees will receive a Hotel Monteleone bookmark.

Legacy Series 1: The Hotel Monteleone – A Literary Landmark
Immediately following the toast at 11:30am, the Hotel will host the first luncheon in its Legacy Series, Hotel Monteleone: A Literary Landmark. Led by local media personality Jeff Crouere, the panel discussion will present an introductory overview of the Hotel’s literary history and Italian-American influence while showcasing the famous authors who helped it to earn the distinction of Literary Landmark.

Panelists include Jan and Bob Carr, New Orleans broadcast icons; Mark Cave, curator for the Tennessee Williams holdings at The Historic New Orleans Collection; New Orleans authors Marda Burton and Jenny Adams; Nell Nolan, The Times Picayune social columnist; and Susan Larson, local literary critic and WWNO radio host. The cost for the luncheon is $35.00.
