Since 1946, The Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré has sponsored Caroling in Jackson Square. One of the French Quarter events held to fund that sponsorship is the White Elephant Sale & Auction, being held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the corner of Royal and St. Philip Streets in the French Quarter. Admission is free and open to the public.
The White Elephant Sale is an Auction, Yard Sale, and Raffle — something for everyone. Some of the best French Quarter businesses, restaurants, hotels, art galleries and shops donate gift certificates and auction items for this event. Baskets of Cheer full of wine and spirits are raffled off throughout the day. The yard sale items are all donations from members and friends of The Patio Planters du Vieux Carré, and include jewelry, books, clothing, and plants.
