The Mississippi River subsided below 13 feet on the Carrollton gauge, which means Entergy’s proactive, accelerated effort ahead of Phase II of the city’s French Quarter Infrastructure Improvements Project has begun. Crews started improving utility infrastructure in the 500-800 blocks of Bourbon Street this week.

Traffic Status

Intersection Closure at St. Louis and Bourbon.

The corner of St. Louis and Bourbon streets will be asphalted and reopened today.


Dauphine, St Louis to Conti will be closed for one day – today from 8:30 am until 3 pm. The closure is for safety reasons while crews improve underground electric service at that intersection. Entergy will work with businesses to facilitate deliveries, trash pickup and access to parking garages.

Parking Lane Closures

600 block of Bourbon

Parking lanes will be unavailable while work is being done to underground facilities in the 600 block of Bourbon Street as outlined below.

Toulouse Street

The corner of Toulouse and Bourbon streets will NOT close.  Instead, crews will perform work in the parking lanes on Toulouse. The work is expected to last one week while works to improve underground utilities. Entergy will work with businesses to facilitate deliveries, trash pickup and access to parking garages.

500 Block of Bourbon

  • Both Entergy’s gas crews and Boh Brothers’ crews (Entergy’s electric contractors) continue to work at the St. Louis/Bourbon intersection this week and expect to be finished by the end of this week.
  • Police details are established for traffic control during road closures.
  • Temporary restoration asphalt patches for the St. Louis/Bourbon intersection will be installed after intersection work is completed at the end of this week.
  • Electric and gas work will continue in this block during the next few weeks. We will send an update to let you know the exact start date.

600 Block of Bourbon

  • Work is expected to begin next week for both electric and gas infrastructure.
  • Expected duration of work on this block from Toulouse to St. Peter streets is eight weeks.
  • Water barricades from Toulouse towards St. Peter will be established on the river side.
  • Parking lanes on the 600 block of Bourbon will be closed on the lake side.
  • Bourbon Street traffic flow will be allowed on the lake side.
  • Entergy personnel will work with delivery drivers who need to make deliveries.
  • A few gas customers in the 500-600 blocks of Bourbon will receive a visit from Entergy personnel to obtain signatures for the gas improvements at their specific service locations.
