Geaux Blue NOLA Day: Wednesday, September 13, 2017

Come join the Geaux Blue Team and show your support to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officers and their family members. We are pleased to announce that plans are well underway for both the second annual Geaux Blue Family Day and Geaux Blue NOLA Day. Both were widely adopted and supported by the public and the business community last year. They were an amazing success and we want to build on that momentum this year.

NOPD officers are dedicated to providing our residents and visitors with the best public safety possible, sometimes under the most adverse and demanding circumstances. In addition, for every officer, there are family members that sacrifice holidays, nights, weekends, and family events so that their mothers, fathers and spouses may serve and protect us.  Geaux Blue Family Day and Geaux Blue NOLA Day provide our community with an opportunity to show our appreciation to these officers and their families in a big way.

The following is an outline of last year’s events and our plans for this year:

  1. GEAUX BLUE FAMILY DAY

A special venue has been selected for this year’s event. Last year, Geaux Blue Family Day was well attended and much appreciated by more than 1200 NOPD officers and family members. The entire event was donated, including the use of the venue and its attractions, food, beverage and live entertainment. The Audubon Zoo mobile, National World War II Museum, and Crimestoppers have all agreed to provide family activities during the event at no charge again this year.  The Louisiana Children’s Museum will be a new participant this year.  Geaux Blue Family Day is a private event exclusively for NOPD officers and their families to celebrate and bond as one big family. The event is not open to the media or the general public. Click on the link to view last year’s event: https://youtube/yRgWgf4GY58

  1. GEAUX BLUE NOLA DAYWednesday, September 13, 2017

Geaux Blue NOLA Day was established by the New Orleans City Council last year as an annual day of recognition for our New Orleans Police Department to acknowledge the officers’ sacrifice, service and dedication.  On September 13, local landmarks such as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Smoothie King Center, and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will illuminate in beautiful blue lights as they did last year. In addition, we are counting on businesses and residents throughout the city to show their support by going blue again this year. We are also asking the schools to get involved again this year by sending messages and goodies to district stations and inviting police officers to come and speak to their classes. The officers loved the messages from the kids, many of which are still hanging on district walls.
