NYE Road Closures, Events, & Security Measures: Friday, Dec. 29, 2017-Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018

Please see the events, road closures, and security measures planned for the French Quarter next weekend:

Friday, December 29th

  • Bourbon Street will become a pedestrian mall from 8pm-4am. The vehicular hard closure of Bourbon Street will be from Canal Street to Dumaine Street (100 to 800 blocks). The 700 and 800 cross streets of Bourbon Street will also be blocked to vehicles.
  • No parking signs will be posted on the 100 to 800 blocks of Bourbon Street and all 700 and 800 cross streets leading to Bourbon Street from noon-6am.

Saturday, Dec. 30th – Tuesday, Jan. 2nd

  • NOPD will do an vehicular soft closure of the French Quarter from 8pm (12/30) to 6am (2/2). The soft closure will be from Rampart Street to Decatur Street and Canal Street to Dumaine Street. Employees, hotel guests, dinning guests, and residents will be allowed in; no entry passes are required. Ubers, Lyfts, and taxis will be allowed in.
  • Bourbon Street will become a pedestrian mall from 8pm-4am. The vehicular hard closure of Bourbon Street will be from Canal Street to Dumaine Street (100 to 800 blocks). The 700 and 800 cross streets of Bourbon Street will also be blocked to vehicles.
  • No parking signs will be posted on the 100 to 800 blocks of Bourbon Street and all 700 and 800 cross streets leading to Bourbon Street from noon-6am.
  • Expect heavy mixed force (NOPD, LSP, K9, mounted, special operations personnel, etc.) coverage throughout the French Quarter all evenings.
  • Light towers, temporary security cameras, law enforcement sky towers, etc. will be placed along the streets of Canal, Decatur, Bourbon, and Poydras, as well as scattered throughout the French Quarter.

Saturday, December 30th

Sunday, December 31st

  • The Allstate Fan Fest will host team pep rallies: Clemson at 1pm and Alabama 4:30pm.
  • The Allstate Fan Fest stage will feature: Imagine Dragons and Walk The Moon. Fan Fest is free to the public and located at Jackson Square in the Jax Brewery parking lot off Decatur Street (418 Decatur Street).
  • The Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade is scheduled to roll at 2:30pm (subject to change). The parade will begin at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and Decatur Street, then travel up Decatur Street. At approximately 3pm, the parade will pass the WDSU stage at the Allstate Fan Fest on Decatur Street inside the Jax Brewery parking lot, where WDSU has set up for live coverage of the parade between 3-5pm – all performers will do a two-minute show at this location. The parade wraps up at Canal Street at 5:30pm (estimated). Click here for the parade route map.
  • Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest will conduct its Central Time Zone countdown.
  • The Crescent City Countdown Club fleur de lis drop above JAX and fireworks will happen at 12pm. (FQBA is a proud fireworks sponsor!)
  • Expect extra NOPD presence on the Moonwalk until 1am.

Please note that the FQBA office will be closed on Friday, December 22, Monday, December 25, 2017, and Monday, January 1, 2018.
