City Issues Parking Restrictions In Advance of French Quarter Catch Basin Cleaning

The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ catch basin cleaning contractor, CES, will begin catch basin cleaning operations in the French Quarter on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2017 at 6 a.m. In an effort to expedite cleaning operations, parking will be prohibited within 20 feet of either side of the catch basin until operations are completed.

Crews will begin at Esplanade Ave. and N. Rampart St., following the flow of traffic towards Canal St. Two crews will be operating daily. As crews progress, they will follow the flow of traffic, cleaning each catch basin as needed. Crews are expected to clean up to 30 catch basins per day. Based on the known number of clogged catch basins in the French Quarter, cleaning operations are expected to be completed by Thanksgiving.

No Parking signage will be posted a minimum of 24-hours in advance of cleaning per block. Parking restrictions will be lifted as soon as cleaning operations are completed on each block. Vehicles preventing access to catch basins may be towed.
