President Robert Watters was interviewed by WRNO’s Richard Hunter on Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s proposal to the City Council to double the rate for parking meters in the French Quarter. The administration has proposed that parking meters charge $3 an hour in the French Quarter and $2 an hour everywhere else in the city in 2016. The current rate across the board is a $1.50. The plan would also extend metered hours to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
