Summer Marketing Campaign
Get Away in the Vieux Carre, now in its 5th year, is an awareness campaign marketed to locals during summer months. It includes a sweepstakes awarding “Get Away” packages to the French Quarter each month.
The FQBA promotes its member businesses during the season they seemingly need it most. The goal of the campaign is to attract local customers and capture their attention for future promotions by the association and its membership. The campaign continues to grow and repeat registrants look forward to this annual campaign and give-a-way.
How Businesses Participate:
Contribute a Gift Certificate to your business that will be included in a sweepstakes package(suggested minimum value $100, the winner should be able to visit your business at no cost to them)
Offer a “Get Away” special during the campaign
(a promotional code, a special summer item or discount, a special menu item)
Promote the “Get Away” campaign and sweepstakes through your business’ marketing outlets (in-store, website, social media, etc)

Although summer is still upon us, the FQBA is looking ahead to the 2012 holiday season. We are excited to announce a new initiative designed to increase traffic to our members.
On Saturday, November 17, we will launch Shop Away in the Vieux Carre—a new promotional effort designed to encourage holiday spending specifically in the French Quarter. With the lighting of the tree in Jackson Square on Thursday, November 15, this will be the kick-off event for the first weekend for holiday shopping in the French Quarter.
To make it easier for our visitors to access all points of the French Quarter, FQBA representatives have partnered with NOLA Pedicabs to rent up to six (6) pedi-cabs that will offer visitors free shuttle service to up to 10 designated spots in the Quarter. Only patrons that have their copy of the “Shop Away in the Vieux Carre” map (see below for details) will be granted free shuttle service, and the shuttles will only go to the pre-determined locations from 11 am – 6 pm.
How can your business be included in the promotion?
Participation is easy! Just tell us what your business will be offering on Saturday, November 17. It could be a discount incentive, a meet-and-greet with a local artist or author, light holiday refreshments (such as cider), or the unveiling of new holiday merchandise. Feel free to offer any creative incentive that works for your business.

How will FQBA and this event support participating members?
“Shop Away in the Vieux Carre” gives the FQBA another opportunity to promote its members as sources of holiday gifts, dining, and entertainment. FQBA will coordinate social media, advertising, and public relations campaigns to encourage locals and drive-in visitors to patronize FQBA members.
FQBA will produce a map of participating member businesses for visitors. This map of the French Quarter will highlight businesses participating in “Shop Away in the Vieux Carre,” and only participating FQBA members will be listed. The best part is: There is no fee to have your business listed on the map. All we need to know is which businesses are willing to participate.
FQBA has arranged an event sponsor opportunity with Nola Pedicabs. Six pedi-cabs are available for FQBA members to sponsor on Saturday, November 17, for $250 each. In return, the pedi-cab will recognize sponsoring businesses by with day-of event signage. The sponsoring businesses will also be recognized as a pedi-cab sponsor on the printed map. Deadline to reserve space is October 15.

Where Y’at Full Page Co-op Ad. FQBA will coordinate creation of the ad if a minimum of 10 business participate. The cost per business is $215. Deadline for participation is Nov 12th.
Times Picayune Full Page Co-op Ad. FQBA will coordinate creation of the ad. This ad will run 4 times over the holiday season: 11/25, 11/28, 12/5 & 12/9. Cost per business to be included is $300.

The Official Visitors Guide

The New Orleans Official Visitors Guide is the official fulfillment piece for the City of New Orleans. It is THE premier resource for reaching visitors in the planning stage and while they are in town. We are the only official guide reaching visitors prior to their trip and by advertising, you are not only obtaining business from pre-planners, but further expose your business to visitors while they are in town. You also have the opportunity to capture convention business by the guide exclusively being displayed at all conferences in the Convention Center, in addition it is included in conventioneers’ welcome packet and distributed at prior year’s conventions. Convention business typically occurs during Sunday-Thursday patterns, which in turn gives YOU more business during off peak periods.
In addition to 700k guides distributed annually, this guide is also available as a virtual link at www.neworleansonline.com and a guide can be requested through the site free of charge to visitors. Locally, the guide is available at more than (200) New Orleans hotels and landmarks, including Louis Armstrong International Airport, car rental agencies, New Orleans Steamboat, Amtrak Terminal, historic French Market, visitor information centers, welcome centers and CVBs throughout the state. In addition, it is the only visitor’s guide that reaches conventioneers inside of the Convention Center via their welcome packets or posts within.
